This engine fits straight into a mini with no need for bulkhead modifications. It is probably the first ever turbo 1040cc mini engine.
The engine was designed to be used as a daily driver. It drives really well and produces good fuel economy.
The engine uses a Metro turbo head, these are known to work very well with 998 turbo engines by lowering the compression to a safe level. The block is pocketed and the other machine work is done by Morspeed.
It is fitted with a T2 turbo from a Renault 5 using a Mirage Stainless Steel manifold. The small turbo combined with the newly rebuilt 1040cc engine makes this engine very fun to drive. The turbo kicks in nice and early with hardly any lag, producing excellent torque right through the revs, whilst still maintaining a smooth idle.
The oil pipes and actuator brackets have been custom made to fit the engine into the small engine space and can be fitted and removed easily. The actuator has been rotated and flipped round 180 degrees to achieve this.
The mirage stainless steel turbo manifold has been modified with an added permanent lambda sensor to hook up to an in-car guage which can be used to monitor the fueling and to fine-tune.
With only 900 miles since rebuild, this engine has only been run at 4psi of boost. It has the potential to produce alot more power with more boost for racing, but at 4psi the mini is quick and fun enough!
Engine can be heard running and can be driven up until next weekend when it will be removed from the car to make way for a different engine. Im sure i have missed some details out, if you would like to contact me to discuss the engine or have any questions at all or want pictures of anything else please email me on jf@graphic-designer.com or call me on (07816) 366314. Engine is located in Keighley, West Yorkshire. I may be able to help with delivery. If i had the space to keep this engine i would love to find another car to put it in as its great fun to drive and unique. All the hard work making everything fit is done.
